November 20th

The Lord blessed us with a beautiful Saturday...temperature in the low 70's and just a little wind...today we do the underpinning on the house. Eric has come to help us, I don't know what I would do without him, but we help each other.

At first, I did not really like the color of the tin for the underpinning..I had chosen another color, but Benny picked this one, longer warranty on it...I do like it now, kind of grows on you...LOL

Dapper came along while I worked inside and he ran back and forth through the house, just having a great time, growling, turning round and round, and playing with his leash. He has the longest nose for a little dog...

I finally got the old pie safe moved, and got the roosters put up on the cupboards.

And my very favorite, the poster of Sebastion the Horse covers the door, and he is now at the head of the table...LOL

I love the look of the light shining through flavored oils and vinegars...

We now have the 220 line in for the dryer, the washer hook-ups are done, now I will have to save up to buy a new washer and dryer, but I am still decorating the walls with my pictures.

This is the pepper plant I bought last week...tried one of those little suckers and almost killed myself...my mouth burned for HOURS....never again...but I love the different colors of peppers and green leaves...

Photobucket

I now have a toilet in my bathroom...LOL..I have a pot, shower, vanity, the tile is all done on the floor. I love the pattern..got it at the $G for $10 a box...took 3 boxes, plus the floor glue and a two days for Eric to put it down. I saved all the little scraps and used them to line the kitchen sink cupboard floor where my pots will go.

Slowly, the house is beginning to take shape. It will be smaller than the one we live in now, but easier for us old folks to get around....it is hard walking upstairs, our knees creak, and we stumble around, but keeping these projects going keeps us young. We are still young at heart.

November 15th

Some days work seems to just stand still...the work slowly continues as we try to move a few things down to the western house. This coming weekend, hopefully, the underpinning will be done. Today we wrapped the pipes with insulation under the house to protect them. I love the house, just want to blink my eyes and have all the heavy furniture down there, but we slowly take an item a day down. My bathroom is almost complete, we could not get the tank to stop leaking, so had to replace the toilet today........trying to make an old one work did not pan out....we finally found the crack in it after it kept leaking and leaking and driving me nuts. My patience is lacking. I became very upset with Homeless Friend, after waiting three weeks to have 3 small boards put up to finish the kitchen. He would show up, say he would return, then make one excuse after another, and not do the work. I finally told him I was upset with him, and if he did not want to do the work, just say so and I would get someone else to do it...and I did. I find trying to help him is not working out....I pay the bills, he does nothing in return. I told him there would be changes coming, I could not put up with the situation. He is staying back at his girlfriend's house, but continues to have his belongings still at my shop and trailer. Some people you cannot help.
I decided today I would take pictures to show what we have accomplished...so let's visit the kitchen...I could not get the refrigerator to fit...so had to put the freezer in it's place, and move the refrigerator near the door....

And all the hard work I did this summer is in my canned goods...
Photobucket

And I moved one of my favorite pieces down today...it is a cupboard that looks like an outhouse, painted with roosters..I need it for my canned goods....

and the door open...LOL...shelves !

We bought this entertainment center with TV used, but was a good buy. I wanted only the TV, but to my surprise, Benny bought them both.....Photobucket

Benny's great grandmother's chair is in the living room, along with a family quilt...
Photobucket

When Benny shot this cat up at the home place, I told him he would pay for it...and he did...it became a wall hanging...LOL...
Photobucket

Old horse blankets are being used as curtains..Photobucket.

I need to find the rest of them...

Before Benny's Aunt Edith passed away, she gave me this darling cast iron stove...it will hold my coffee pot...the horseshoes will hold my cups...

The stove area is all tiled and done...we will brand the mantle with the family brand during the cold months when we heat the stove up...need it good and hot to burn the brand in the wood....

Still decorating the walls though...

And I picked the very last of the peppers since the frost hit...there will be no more this year, but will have a nice Jalapeno Omlet for breakfast...
