Christmas 2010 at the New House

Well, what an exciting week this has been. The kids all came in to see the new house, and the grands, and the great grands. We laughed, cried, played, ate, you name it. I even tried Sushi for the first time...I can leave it...LOL....but it was different. Daughter Karen treated us all to a special drink...Mimosa...that I did like quite well. But these are the pictures that will live on in our memories....
The beds were all ready with the quilts that I love...This is Nanny's old bed...
Photobucket

This is the favorite bed everyone wants to sleep on...it has an old feather tick mattress on it, and it as soft as a cloud...
Photobucket

This is what I call the Middle bed...it is queen size...Photobucket

This is a twin...ready for the kids to sleep in...but we had another memory...Three little monkeys, jumping on the bed, they jumped so high, they hit each other's head...and Lacy ended up with a black eye for Christmas...

Even Tiffany's old baby cradle came out of storage to hold two new little ones..

Photobucket

The wood stove worked great...both of them kept the house nice and warm..Benny got up early and made sure of that...
Photobucket

We had a small western tree on the table...boots, horses, and all...and loved the table Karen made years ago...she really laughed when she saw it...Joel had his eyes open so wide, I had to laugh...."Is that the table ?" Yes, that was the one he sat at when he was little...

Photobucket

It took Benny and I ALL DAY to put this chair together..I told him to buy the floor model, it was already done..LOL...Never again

!Photobucket

I love my stained glass piece over my sink...and my bottles of vinegars with herbs and oils...
Photobucket

The sectional was covered with my old quilts...very comfy....

Photobucket

I love this garage sale article I found for $5...a huge circle covered with colored pieces of carpet...love it on the wall....

Photobucket

We had such a wonderful time...so many blessings in my life...
Photobucket

The giggle girls...LOLPhotobucket

Joel and baby daughter, Haylen.....and sweet baby Trey, Krystal's and JT's baby...

Well, this is the story of the new house...we are still working on it..the washer is ready, but we have to put a vent in for the dryer yet...

November 20th

The Lord blessed us with a beautiful Saturday...temperature in the low 70's and just a little wind...today we do the underpinning on the house. Eric has come to help us, I don't know what I would do without him, but we help each other.

Photobucket

At first, I did not really like the color of the tin for the underpinning..I had chosen another color, but Benny picked this one, longer warranty on it...I do like it now, kind of grows on you...LOL
Photobucket

Dapper came along while I worked inside and he ran back and forth through the house, just having a great time, growling, turning round and round, and playing with his leash. He has the longest nose for a little dog...
Photobucket

I finally got the old pie safe moved, and got the roosters put up on the cupboards.

And my very favorite, the poster of Sebastion the Horse covers the door, and he is now at the head of the table...LOL
Photobucket

I love the look of the light shining through flavored oils and vinegars...

Photobucket

We now have the 220 line in for the dryer, the washer hook-ups are done, now I will have to save up to buy a new washer and dryer, but I am still decorating the walls with my pictures.

Photobucket

This is the pepper plant I bought last week...tried one of those little suckers and almost killed myself...my mouth burned for HOURS....never again...but I love the different colors of peppers and green leaves...

Photobucket

I now have a toilet in my bathroom...LOL..I have a pot, shower, vanity, the tile is all done on the floor. I love the pattern..got it at the $G for $10 a box...took 3 boxes, plus the floor glue and a two days for Eric to put it down. I saved all the little scraps and used them to line the kitchen sink cupboard floor where my pots will go.

Slowly, the house is beginning to take shape. It will be smaller than the one we live in now, but easier for us old folks to get around....it is hard walking upstairs, our knees creak, and we stumble around, but keeping these projects going keeps us young. We are still young at heart.

November 15th

Some days work seems to just stand still...the work slowly continues as we try to move a few things down to the western house. This coming weekend, hopefully, the underpinning will be done. Today we wrapped the pipes with insulation under the house to protect them. I love the house, just want to blink my eyes and have all the heavy furniture down there, but we slowly take an item a day down. My bathroom is almost complete, we could not get the tank to stop leaking, so had to replace the toilet today........trying to make an old one work did not pan out....we finally found the crack in it after it kept leaking and leaking and driving me nuts. My patience is lacking. I became very upset with Homeless Friend, after waiting three weeks to have 3 small boards put up to finish the kitchen. He would show up, say he would return, then make one excuse after another, and not do the work. I finally told him I was upset with him, and if he did not want to do the work, just say so and I would get someone else to do it...and I did. I find trying to help him is not working out....I pay the bills, he does nothing in return. I told him there would be changes coming, I could not put up with the situation. He is staying back at his girlfriend's house, but continues to have his belongings still at my shop and trailer. Some people you cannot help.
I decided today I would take pictures to show what we have accomplished...so let's visit the kitchen...I could not get the refrigerator to fit...so had to put the freezer in it's place, and move the refrigerator near the door....

The kitchen chairs have the rooster pads, and my daughter Karen did the beautiful top for my table...and it matches !

Photobucket

Photobucket

And all the hard work I did this summer is in my canned goods...
Photobucket

And I moved one of my favorite pieces down today...it is a cupboard that looks like an outhouse, painted with roosters..I need it for my canned goods....

Photobucket

and the door open...LOL...shelves !

Photobucket

We bought this entertainment center with TV used, but was a good buy. I wanted only the TV, but to my surprise, Benny bought them both.....Photobucket

Benny's great grandmother's chair is in the living room, along with a family quilt...
Photobucket

When Benny shot this cat up at the home place, I told him he would pay for it...and he did...it became a wall hanging...LOL...
Photobucket

Old horse blankets are being used as curtains..Photobucket.

I need to find the rest of them...

Before Benny's Aunt Edith passed away, she gave me this darling cast iron stove...it will hold my coffee pot...the horseshoes will hold my cups...

Photobucket

Photobucket

The stove area is all tiled and done...we will brand the mantle with the family brand during the cold months when we heat the stove up...need it good and hot to burn the brand in the wood....
Photobucket

Still decorating the walls though...
Photobucket

And I picked the very last of the peppers since the frost hit...there will be no more this year, but will have a nice Jalapeno Omlet for breakfast...

October 30th

I think I should change my name to Busy...I am so busy..since the frost came this week, I needed to finish snapping green beans, which will become part of Sunday dinner tomorrow, plus I put up 3 quarts and 1 pint of jalapeno peppers, plus I did 5 pints of Apple Conserve, and I just made Apple Cookies...which made me feel better, running on a sugar high...LOL
The porch was completed this morning....now we have to see how we can proceed with the deck. Cement is too high, so it will probably have to be wood.
Photobucket

Measuring the height of the deck to be built yet...
Photobucket

The stoves have been lifted up and the stovepipe is in place. Benny came in laughing and said he started a fire in one of them, and it was great...takes little to amuse us old folks...The tile work is so pretty....
Photobucket

The one in the bedroom still lacks trim around the front. I plan to use Benny's great uncle's old brand to burn the brand all across the wood piece in front of the wood stove. I also need to buy a fireproof hearth rug to go in front of it...

Photobucket

The light has been put up in the kitchen...still waiting for the pot holder to be attached to the top of the ceiling....

Photobucket

And two pictures of my very favorite...the deer head ! And a smaller one of just little antlers below it, and an old rusty horse shoe I found under the house when it was moved....Hope my luck will be good the rest of the year....
